Well earned draw for 2s.

Llanishen travelled to near neighbours Rumney and came away with a well earned draw. The home side opened the scoring with a try out wide and were dominating the early period, Llanishen defended strongly and got back into the game with a Steff Boyd penalty and took the lead with a close range try from outstanding number 8 Barrie Phillips, another momentum shift saw Rumney retake the lead in the last minute of the first half with a converted try. Half time Rumney 12 Llanishen 8. Early in the second half the lead changed hands again as wing James Chapman crossed in the corner to give his side a one point lead. Once again the hosts came back and after regaining the lead with a penalty, scored a late try, crucially the conversion was missed. Although down to fourteen men, as prop Sion Morris had to leave the field injured, Llanishen threw everything into attack, after a series of pick and drives close to the opposition line the ball was eventually moved out to Boyd on the wing to cross for a try, scrum half Tom Ryall added a superb conversion from out wide and as the ball sailed between the posts the referee blew the final whistle. The final score of 20 all was a fair reflection of a game, with both sides playing positive rugby, and a draw was a fair result.
