Narrowest of defeats for 2s.

Llanishen had several players not in their normal position for the derby game against Rhiwbina, due to a large number of players being unavailable and call ups to the 1s.

The home side dominated the early period and were  rewarded when wing Sam Beckett, playing at full back, finished off a smart backs move to score under the posta, Tom Ryall, usually a scrum half but playing at 10, adding the conversion.

Rhiwbina then got back into the game with their bigger pack winning most of the breakdowns and late in the half brought the scores level with a converted try of their own.

Early in the second half, Beckett followed up a box kick gathered the ball and showed great pace to get his second, Ryall again added the extras. Shortly after Beckett had to leave the field, followed shortly after by replacement Harry Sewell, leaving the home side with just 13 players.

Rhiwbina pressed and pressed, determined defence kept them at bay until they made their numerical advantage count to score a try in the corner. Shortly after Ryall was harshly shown a yellow card for retaliating after appearing to be kicked when on the ground, Rhiwbina kicking the ensuing penalty to take the lead for the for the first time.

The depleted home side never let their heads drop and went on the attack and had a chance to win in when awarded a penalty wide out, Ryall back now on the field pushed a difficulkt kick just wide. Final score Llanishen 14 Rhiwbina 15. A disappointing defeat, but the players can be proud of the effort and commitment they showes.
