2s return to winning ways.

With several players either unavailable or called up to the 1s, it was a much changed side that travelled to play Dinas Powys, with the backline containing four players who normally play in the forwards. The home side started much the better and dominated the early stages and scored two penalties to take a 6 - 0 lead, Llanishen finally settled down and stand in skipper Tom Vaughan broke from a scrum, full back Owen Clutterbuck ran a good support line and fed wing Jack Marshall who had the speed and strength to score in the corner. Dinas Powys replied with their first try which was converted, but shortly after outside half Lewis Marshall crossed wide out ro reduce the deficit. Vaughan was yellow carded for a high tackle, being a player short didn't have any affect, centre Elian Owen burst up the middle and outpaced the covering defenders to score under the posts, Marshall converted to give Llanishen the lead for the first time. The turning point of the game came in the last few minutes of the first half, Dinas Powys were camped on the Llanishen line and went through multiple phases only to be kept out by determined defence, eventually a home player was held up over the line and the referee blew for half time, with the score Dinas Powys 2s 13 Llanishen 2s 17. The defensive effort inspired Llanishen and they extended their lead when Marshall put in a clever chip kick which Nathen Llewellyn gathered to speed away and score under the posts, Marshall converted, then the home side crossed for their second try which was also converted. The end to end action continued and Llanishen got two more tries, the first from outstanding second row Tom Barr and the second from Vaughan, Clutterbuck converted both. To their credit the home side never gave up and late in the game got two more tries, one of which was converted to gain two well deserved bonus points. The final score in a game which was a credit to rugby at this level, Dinas Powys 2s 32 Llanishen 2s 38.
